Delightfully spooky Skeleton Bone Cinnamon Rolls perfect for Halloween, featuring soft dough twisted into eerie bone shapes with a rich cinnamon-sugar filling and creamy glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add sugar, melted butter, egg, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Mix until combined.
  3. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Roll the dough on a floured surface into a 12×18 inch rectangle.
  6. Spread softened butter evenly over the dough.
  7. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle evenly over the buttered dough.
  8. Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
  9. Slice the log into 8 pieces and gently shape each into a ‘bone’ form by pinching the ends and making slight curves.
  10. Place rolls on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. While baking, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
  13. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

For extra spooky effect, add small edible candy eyes or use black icing to outline the bone shape before glazing.
