Oven Baked BBQ Ribs

Tender and flavorful oven baked BBQ ribs slow-cooked to perfection with a tangy homemade barbecue sauce. Perfect for a delicious and easy weeknight dinner or weekend gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 racks pork baby back ribs (about 2 pounds each)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C). Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Remove the silver membrane from the back of the ribs for better seasoning absorption.
  4. Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of each rack of ribs.
  5. Place ribs meat side up on the foil-lined baking sheet and cover tightly with foil.
  6. Bake ribs in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours until the meat is tender and pulls away from the bone.
  7. Remove ribs from oven, discard top foil, and brush both sides liberally with barbecue sauce.
  8. Set the oven to broil and place ribs under the broiler for 3-5 minutes until the sauce caramelizes and bubbles—watch carefully to prevent burning.
  9. Remove from oven, let rest for 5 minutes, then slice between the bones and serve.

Notes

For extra smoky flavor, try adding a few drops of liquid smoke to the barbecue sauce before baking, or serve with coleslaw for a refreshing balance.
