Cranberry Apple Breakfast Tart

This Cranberry Apple Breakfast Tart is a delightful combination of tart cranberries and sweet apples baked in a flaky pastry, perfect for a wholesome morning treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry onto the baking sheet and prick the center with a fork, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  3. In a bowl, toss the apple slices and cranberries with lemon juice, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
  4. Arrange the fruit mixture evenly over the center of the pastry, inside the border.
  5. Fold the edges of the pastry over the fruit, pleating as necessary to form a rustic edge.
  6. Brush the pastry edges with the beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the fruit is tender.
  8. Let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

For added texture, sprinkle chopped walnuts or pecans over the fruit before baking, or serve with a dollop of Greek yogurt or whipped cream.
