Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g boneless chicken thighs, cut into pieces
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 400g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 200ml heavy cream
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add garlic and ginger; cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in garam masala, turmeric, chili powder, and cumin. Cook spices for 1 minute to release aromas.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes and sugar. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet. Cover and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes until chicken is cooked through.
  7. Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream. Cook for another 5 minutes without boiling.
  8. Season with salt to taste and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
