Deliciously nutty brown butter protein chocolate chip cookies that combine rich flavor with a healthy boost of protein, perfect for a guilt-free treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, swirling occasionally until it turns golden brown and fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the browned butter with brown sugar and white sugar, stirring until smooth.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, beating well to combine.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, protein powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  8. Drop tablespoon-sized scoops of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and centers are set.
  10. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra chewiness, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking or add a sprinkle of sea salt on top just before baking.
