Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your Belgian waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks with the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  6. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the waffle batter to keep it light and airy.
  7. Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings like fresh fruit, syrup, or whipped cream.

Notes

For extra crispiness, preheat the waffle iron well and avoid opening it too early. Serve with fresh berries and powdered sugar for a classic touch.
