20-Minute Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

This quick and flavorful beef and broccoli stir fry combines tender beef strips with crisp broccoli in a savory sauce, perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add sliced beef and black pepper; stir-fry until browned and just cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
  3. Add remaining 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to the skillet. Add garlic and ginger and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender.
  5. Return beef to the skillet and pour in the sauce mixture. Stir well and cook until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and drizzle with toasted sesame oil. Stir to combine.
  7. Serve immediately over cooked white rice, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

For an extra spicy kick, add 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes with the garlic and ginger. You can also substitute flank steak with sirloin or chicken breast.
